Refrigerated shipping allows you to transport perishable and temperature-sensitive items over long distances. It is vital for medicine, the food market, and other industries.

Before shipping, you must prepare your products for transportation. It is important not only for convenience but to separate each item for protection. Here are the necessary steps:

  • Baked goods must have an airtight seal
  • Items that must remain frozen have to be insulated
  • Double wrap seafood
  • Use sturdy cardboard boxes that have free space for dry ice or package fillers (bubble wrap, packing peanuts, paper, etc.)
  • If you use dry ice, make sure that boxes have a ventilation option
  • Never use regular ice for cooling, only dry ice or special gel packs

There is also the option of ordering a reefer transportation service. It provides adjustable temperature control that can be set up for your goods. Depending on the number of your products, you can have a reefer truck or a reefer van. You’ll still need to pack your products but you don’t need to think about cooling and driving your items yourself.

How Much is Refrigerated Shipping Takes to Deliver

Refrigerated shipping works like any other shipping process. It’s timeline depends on the destination between pick up and delivery and the logistics possibilities of a chosen carrier company.

Reefer shipping implies that you can have FTL or LTL, expedited, long-distance, and any other shipping service but for temperature-sensitive freight. However, you need to plan your shipping and make a deal with a carrier beforehand.
